Teutopolis school board members Monday reviewed 90% drawings for a possible expansion at Teutopolis Junior High School and authorized the release of bid specifications for the project with bids anticipated for review at the December meeting. The expansion is to accommodate the transition of sixth grade to Teutopolis Junior High School in 2026-2027. Superintendent Matt Sturgeon said the expansion will help the district better meet the needs of its growing student population and set the stage for a long-term facility improvement initiative at Teutopolis Grade School.
Also Monday, the Board heard that the tentative levy will be reviewed in November and approved in December. Budget projections were shared with the Board based on final audit numbers for Fiscal Year 2025. The school report card is expected to be released by the state board of education on October 30th.
In personnel moves, the Teutopolis board hired Morgan Mette as a girls basketball volunteer, Danielle Probst as a volleyball volunteer, Sue Mills to coach 7th grade volleyball, Sarah Schabbing to coach fresh-soph girls basketball, and Caleb Siemer to coach fresh-soph boys basketball for the coming season half-time only based on numbers.
Two students from Teutopolis Grade School presented to the Board about their recent after-school collaboration with Benchworx.
