Effingham St. Anthony finished fourth in the Class 1A Girls State Cross Country Meet while the Bullpups boys team finished eighth during the weekend.

Sigel St. Michael, Dieterich, Neoga and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City were also represented.

Brimfield won the girls meet with 55 points followed by Arlington Height St. James 79, Mount Prospect St. Raymond 134, St. Anthony 150, Peoria St. Jude 177, Downers Grove St. Mary Gostyn 188, Evanston St. Athanasius 188, Sigel St. Michael 225, Normal Epiphany 236, Monmouth ICS 316, Palatine St. Theresa 322, Champaign St. Matthew 323, Rossville-Alvin 347, Franklin 373, Plainfield St. Mary 394, Washington St. Patrick 395, Liberty 430, Chicago Old St. Mary’s 468, Otawa Wallace 470, Chicago St. Joseph 482, Lisle St. Joan of Arc 500, Table Grove VIT 566, Joliet St. Raymond 594 and Mokena St. Mary 595.

Brynn Bartkus of Downers Grove St. Mary Gostyn won with a time of 11:46.4.

Finishing for St. Anthony were Sylvia Semple 24th in 13:03.2, Bella Schultz 25th in 13:08.9, Maeve Niebrugge 30th in 13:13.3, Nina Semple 39th in 13:24.9, Morgan Kabbes 73rd in 13:48.4, Amelia Janis 168th in 14:59.6 and Josie Ludwig 175th in 15:02.9.

St. Michael’s Nora Schumacher was 21st in 12:58.1, Violet Walk 37th in 13:24.4, Madalie Hoene 68th in 13:46.4, Vayda Walk 71st in 13:47.1, Reece Niebrugge 119th in 14:20.0, Alicia Rivas 136th in 14:29.8 and Brianna Niebrugge 145th in 14:37.5.

Also competing from the area were Neoga’s Nora Hartke 60th in 13:41.1, Dieterich’s Jenna Ambuehl 110th in 14:15.5 and Jenna Bohnhoff 171st in 15:00.2 and North Clay’s Madilynn Sparks 155th in 14:49.0.

In the boys meet, St. Anthony finished eighth as a team. Dieterich took 18th place.

Mount Prospect St. Raymond won with 57 points followed by Brimfield 96, Chicago Old St. Mary’s 105, Danville Schlarman 125, Evanston St. Athanasius 186, River Forest St. Luke 197, Peoria St. Jude 213, St. Anthony 251, Normal Epiphany 290, Champaign St. Matthew 292, Lombard St. Pius X 298, Champaign Holy Cross 325, Orland HiIls Bernardin 343, Chicago St. Clement 383, Princeville 396, Liberty 404, Bourbonnais St. George 447, Dieterich 451, Arlington Heights St. James 527, Mount Prospect St. Emily 540, Mokena St. Mary 191, Franklin 600, Bourbonnais St. Paul’s 613 and Bushnell-Prairie City 650.

Dylan Wiemer of Bourbonnais St. George won with a time of 10:47.7.

Competing for St. Anthony were Max Schuette 35th in 11:53.6, Rhett Douthit 67th in 12:14.8, Braxton Schultz 70th in 12:16.3, Will Ludwig 71st in 12:16.5, Grayson Bloemer 111th in 12:48.5, Logan Lustig 145th in 13:13.8 and Marty Scheidemantel 167th in 13:31.2.

Dieterich runners were Eric Lemus 66th in 12:14.3, Gabe Crutcher 107th in 12:45.7, Wade Brummer 146th in 13:14.9, Landon McQueen 150th in 13:18.1, Cody Goeckner 161st in 13:27.9, Sam Brummer 184th in 13:50.4 and Luke Wohltman 207th in 14:27.8.

Easton Kramer finished 8th for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in 12:30.9.
