 One Person Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash Sunday Morning Near Dieterich

One person was killed after a two-vehicle crash in Effingham County Sunday morning.

Illinois State Police were called to 2300th Street and East 900th Avenue at the east edge of Dieterich around 8:30am. State police reported the crash involved a pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Nathan Roley of Dieterich and a van driven by 63-year-old Jacqueline Adams of Wheeler. Roley’s truck crossed the centerline and struck Adams’ van.

Adams was pronounced dead at the scene. Roley was airlifted to a regional trauma center for treatment of injuries.

Agencies on scene to assist were the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois State Police and traffic reconstruction, Dieterich Fire Department, Teutopolis Police and Fire Departments, Rural Med EMS, and the Effingham County Coroner’s Office.

The roadway was closed while the crash was investigated, but was reopened just after 12:30pm.
