Honorato T. “Nory” Japson age 82, of Willow Hill, Illinois, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton, with Father David Beagles officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services Thursday, October 23rd in the funeral home. Burial will be Mound Cemetery with military rites being offered by Jasper Post No. 20 of the American Legion.
Nory was born on January 11, 1943, in Lila, Bohol, Philippines, the son of Esteban and Juana (Tagadiad) Japson. Nory married Virginia A. McKee on August 25, 1978. She preceded him in death on February 17, 2018.
Following high school, Nory enlisted in the United States Navy. During his time in service, Nory was a Navy cook for the officers and chiefs. He served during the Vietnam War and completed his military service at USS Fort Snelling, Little Creek, Virginia in 1983. He honorable served his country for 22 years, retiring as a 1 st class Petty Officer.
Following his Navy career, Nory earned his associates degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. He spent the next twenty- two years cooking for the Moral Welfare Recreation, the catering and conference center for the U.S. Navy. After his retirement, Nory and his late wife, Virginia, returned to her childhood home of Willow Hill.
Nory faithfully attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Oblong. He was active in the Robinson Lions Club, the Filipino American Club of Virginia Beach, the V.F.W. No. 392 and enjoyed helping with the many activities of the Willow Hill Church.
In his free time, Nory loved to cook. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and loved to spend time with them. Nory enjoyed music and taught himself to play the guitar and harmonica. He liked making music at the area hootenannies. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing Bingo and games, especially Mahjong and cards.
Nory will be loved and remembered by his children, Ginory and Marcus, Juana; Melissa and Darrell, Lisa and Ragen and Allan; nine grandchildren, Alfred Jr., Shalyn, Brianna, Marcus Jr., Nina, Fletcher, Brittney, Aaron and Faith; seven great-grandchildren, Grayson, Sariyah, Sebastian, Evengaline, Izak, Lilith and Sophia.
His parents, wife Virginia and three brothers preceded him in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Nory may be made to either Pandas Fight Against Cancer or the Robinson Area Lions Club.
