Members of the Effingham County Board’s Legislative Committee Tuesday discussed an advisory referendum regarding a Federal scholarship tax credit.
County Board Chairman Josh Douthit said the measure would have no impact on state funding, only federal, and would appear on the March 2026 election ballot. Committee Chairman David Campbell said two local legislators are asking the measure to appear on the ballot.
The Board is being asked for continued support of the State’s Attorney’s Appellate Prosecutor Service. The measure would cost $18,000 and would involve handling cases on appeal.
