 Junior High Girls Basketball Results — Oct. 9

TAYLORVILLE — Effingham Junior High School fell in girls basketball to Taylorville in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Thursday.

Taylorville was a 35-20 winner in the seventh-grade contest, running out to a 15-2 opening quarter lead and never looking back.

Effingham was led in scoring by Sophia Wiedman with seven and Tinley Paxton with six.

In eighth-grade play, Taylorville was a 27-18 winner.

The Mustangs were led by Cloie Bailey and Mackynzie Hites with four each.

At Dieterich

Stewardson-Strasburg and Dieterich split victories Thursday evening.

Stew-Stras won the seventh-grade contest, 22-19.

KJ Althoff led the winners with 10 points.

Makayla Meinhart led Dieterich with nine points. Ali Koester had 13 rebounds while Kambryn Mellendorf led in steals with six.

In eighth-grade play, Dieterich claimed the 29-18 win.

There was even scoring as Mya Ohnesorge had eight points and Emma Williams with seven. Ava Benefiel had four rebounds. Emery Bill had two blocked shots.

Stew-Stras was led by Maddy Manhart with six points as the team dropped to 2-5.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Sigel St. Michael claimed a victory each Thursday evening.

The Bobcats won the seventh-grade game, 21-16 to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Elli Wheeler led the winners in scoring with nine points.

St. Michael was led by M. Gaddis with eight.

In the eighth-grade game, the Sharpshooters were 38-27 winners.

St. Michael was led by B. Niebrugge with 21 points.

CHBC was led by Elaina Thompson with eight as the team dropped to 5-2.
