A reminder from Effingham County Treasurer Deb Ruholl to the property owners in Effingham County that the 2nd installment payment of property tax is due Friday, October 17th.
Payment options for the taxes is as follows:
a. In person at the Treasurer’s office located on the 2nd floor of the County Office Building;
b. At most banks in the County;
c. On-line (a convenience fee will apply); or
d. By mail to the Treasurer’s office.
If payments are not in the Treasurer’s office by 4 PM on Friday or postmarked on or before Friday, October 17th, the second installment will incur a late penalty per Illinois State Statute (35 ILCS 200/21-15).
Please keep in mind the mail dropped off at the post office may not be postmarked on the day it is dropped off. If you are mailing your tax payment, please take the mail into the post office and ask the clerk to postmark the envelope in front of you or place your payment in the mail a couple of days prior to the due date. The Treasurer’s Office cannot be responsible for payments not postmarked on or before the due date.
