(GIBSON)
A local man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison on child pornography charges.
67-year-old Larry D. Gibson of Effingham pleaded guilty to four counts while eight other counts were dismissed. Gibson was sentenced to eight years in prison on two of the counts, four years to another count, and five years in prison to the fourth offense. The sentences will run consecutively, resulting in the 25-year term. He was also fined a total of $6,000, and then was ordered to serve mandatory supervised release of from three years to life.
Gibson’s arrest and prosecution were a joint effort of Effingham County State’s Attorney Aaron Jones and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul.
Gibson was arrested in December of 2024. Raoul’s investigators, along with officers from Effingham Police Department, conducted a search of Gibson’ residence in Lakewood Manor. He was taken into custody after investigators discovered evidence of child sexual abuse material.
