We mentioned in recent days that Fourth Street in Effingham is closed to through traffic due to construction at Santa Maria Avenue.

Unfortunately, there are reports of cut-through traffic and speeding on the neighborhood streets of Santa Barbara, Santa Fe, and Santa Monica while 4th Street is closed. The City of Effingham is asking you to use Route 45/3rd Street or Keller Drive as an alternate route. Please don’t use the neighborhood streets. The City will also be monitoring the traffic in the neighborhood.

Fourth Street between Rickelman Avenue and Evergreen Avenue is only open to local traffic.
