Cheryl Kay Fagg, 80, of Cowden, Illinois, passed away peacefully on September 22, 2025.
Born on June 4, 1945, in East St. Louis, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of Elwood and Helen Cauthon. Her warmth, generosity, and spirited involvement in her community left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.
Cheryl’s life was a testament to her resilience and capacity for love. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, embracing her journey with grace and a smile that could light up a room. After the passing of her parents and her siblings, as well as her two husbands, Richard Townsend and Jearld Fagg, Cheryl continued to spread love and kindness, drawing strength from the family and community that she held so dear. Cheryl’s commitment to her community was evident through her active involvement in various local organizations. She never missed a Cowden City Council meeting, was a member of the Sarver Guthrie American Legion Post 839 Auxiliary of Herrick, volunteered with the Girl Scouts and could often be found attending services at Herrick Baptist Church.
