Effingham finished third in the 3A State tournament while South Central wins their first state title in program history.
In Friday quarterfinal action Effingham defeated Normal Chiddix 8-2. Saturday they fell in the semifinals Washington Central 6-0, but bounced back for a big win over Chatham Glenwood in 4 innings 14-2.
South Central defeated Pontiac St. Mary’s 18-8 in their quarterfinal game. They won the semi-final matchup Saturday 9-8 over Mendota Holy Cross. In the Championship game South Central scored a run in the bottom of the 5th and two in the 6th for the 3-0 victory
