TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis had a big night on the evening, blanking Effingham St. Anthony in both varsity and junior varsity soccer play Thursday.
“We had a great night against St. Anthony ending the evening with wins for both squads,” said Coach Aaron Wendt. “There were lots of goals tonight.”
In the varsity match, T-town poured on the scoring as senior Joey Probst had another hat trick with three goals. Gavin Buening followed with two goals and Caleb Deter and Tucker Dhom had one goal each.
Goals were assisted by Joey Probst with two, Gus Niemerg, Simon Lee and Buening.
“It was another clean sheet for goalkeeper Jake Kocher,” said Wendt.
T-town’s varsity is now 9-1-2 on the season.
The junior varsity was a 5-0 winner. Two goals were scored by Mark Probst while Keegan Swingler, Julien Blim and Gus Martin had a goal each. Goals were assisted by Grant Tegeler and Exavier Smothers. Goalkeeper Barrett Meyer had two saves and a clean sheet. The junior varsity is 5-1 on the season.
T-town returns to its home pitch Saturday for a varsity only match against Carlyle. Start time is 11 a.m.
At Charleston
Effingham defeated Charleston by a 7-0 tally Thursday.
“We struggled to get going with the halftime score being 2-0 but came out stronger in the second half, ending with the 7-0 win,” said EHS Coach Logan Arney.
Maicol Sefton finished the game with a hat trick, scoring three goals and assisting on two others.
“Camilo Aden put in a goal and showed off his playmaking ability with four assists,” said Arney.
Gage Kinder, Jake Niebrugge and Rece Kinney each scored a goal for the Hearts. Brady Wilson ended with three saves in Effingham’s sixth clean sheet on the year.
“Overall it was a good performance once the team got moving in the second half and played at their speed and showed strong teamwork,” said Coach Arney.
Effingham hosts Taylorville in Apollo Conference play this Saturday at 11 a.m.
