ALTAMONT — Effingham St. Anthony edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then tacked on a single run in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth on the way to claim a 9-1 victory over Altamont Wednesday in high school baseball.
The Bulldogs’ had four pitchers combine for a one-hitter. Xander Beals went two innings giving up two walks and striking out two for the win. Freddie Jansen went two innings allowing four walks and striking out four. Hayden Bushur went two innings giving up one run on one hit, three walks and striing out three and Blake Verdeyen went the final inning.
Aiden Lauritzen hit a solo home run for the Bulldogs while Henry Brent had two singles and three RBI, Beals a single, double and an RBI and Quinton Stephens a single and two RBI.
Altamont’s lone hit was a single by Kade Milleville. Brayden Elam had an RBI.
