The Effingham Water Authority board heard from Anthony Jansen of Farnsworth Group on the latest plans for the Lake Sara beach expansion.
Preliminary cost estimates are $187,000 to complete the project.
Parks and Rec Committee Chairman Tom Ryan requested using the funds available in the Parks and Rec reserve fund which, to-date, total $120,000 and will be complimented by revenue from the sale of 2025 boat licenses. Ryan agreed to reimburse the Water Authority fund $25,000 with funds raised in 2026 for the beach expansion. The Board approved the use of the funds.
Dennis Campbell spoke to the Board about dust and dirt from Midwest Marina, which is across the street from their residence. EWA Chairman Rob Brown said he would forward the complaint on the Marina owner.
Jane Thoele of the Friends of Lake Sara reported their next outing will be at The Nest in October. Thoele said the Fireworks Committee has a signed contract and they will be going digital this next year.
