Cheryl Locey, 64, of Watson, IL passed away on Monday September 15, 2025 at home surrounded by family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 22, 2025 in Watson Cemetery, Watson, IL. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be shared at www.johnsonandsonsfh.com.
Cheryl was born on July 8, 1961 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL. She was the daughter of Lewis “Louie” and Lorene (Buchholz) Phillips, and Jack Groves. Cheryl’s favorite thing in life was spending time with her grandkids. She loved to see them smile and make them laugh. She was the best at spoiling her grandkids and buying them whatever they wanted. Her favorite past times were playing with her 2 Shih Tzus, the late Jabbers and Remi, and watching Fox News. In her early years, she was a dedicated employee/manager at Dairy Queen for 30-plus years. She left a legacy of love, wisdom, and hard work, not only just for her kids and grandkids. She left a great impression on all the people she had met over the years.
Cheryl is survived by her son, Ryan (Jodi) Locey of Dieterich; two grandkids, Brooke and Blake Locey; sister, Jackie Genaust; brother, Lewis Jr. “Louie” (Sherry) Phillips; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister.
