Dale G. Normile, 83, of Windsor, Illinois, passed away to be with his Heavenly Father on September 6, 2025, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
Dale was born on September 11, 1941, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of David and Mary Imogene (Rhoden) Normile. He was a 1959 graduate of Charleston High School and continued his studies at Eastern Illinois University where he met the love of his life, Linda (Lovins) Normile, they married on May 12, 1962. Dale owned and operated his own barber shop, drove a bus for the Windsor School District, and was an over-the-road truck driver. After retirement, he continued to drive buses for the Windsor School District
and the Mattoon School District, for various celebrations and helped haul grain. Dale was a deacon at Ash Grove Christian Church where he enjoyed many years of worship and fellowship. He served in the Illinois National Guard and was also a member of the Free Masons. Dale was a kind and loving man who will be missed deeply by his family and all who knew him. He cherished spending time with his family and creating lasting memories. Dale’s fun, friendly, and warm personality could always light up the room and will be remembered by many.
Dale will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jill Normile (Sam) Francis of Dieterich; his son, Todd (Benita) Normile of Mattoon; his grandchildren, Kirk Normile, Holly Brewster, both of Mattoon, Lindsay (Stuart) Nunn of Center, Kentucky, and Samantha Francis (special friend, Jon) of Dieterich; his four great-grandchildren, Luke, Jillian, Jordan, and Kaya, whom all brought him immeasurable joy; his sister-in-law, Debi Lovins of Florida; his nieces, Cheri Lynch of Charleston and Joni Goddard of Florida, and nephew, Scott Schnure of Missouri.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; his parents, David and Mary Imogene; his sisters, Kathy Normile and Cheryl Wheatley; his brothers-in-law, Douglas Wheatley and Dennis Lovins; his mother-in-law, Josephine (Mahan) Lovins Doehring; his sister-in-law, Jo Ann Lovins; his great-grandson at birth; his dog Brewer, and many other beloved dogs that were like family.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Richland Rehabilitation and Healthcare for their care of Dale.
