 Teutopolis Downs South Central, Altamont, North Clay/Clay City Win In H.S. Baseball

KINMUNDY — Teutopolis High School remained unbeaten by blanking South Central, 11-0 in five innings of high school baseball Monday.

The Wooden Shoes’ Aidan Niemerg and Hayden Tebbe combined to keep the Cougars off the base paths.

Niemerg went four innings for the pitching win. He allowed no runs on one hit, did not give up a walk and struck out five.

Tebbe went the final inning, allowing one hit, no walks and striking out two.

While the Wooden Shoes were holding down the Cougars offensively, they also finished with nine hits. Jason Kreke knocked out a home run and finished with two RBI while Austin Borries had two singles, a double and four RBI. Davin Worman and Eric Weidner added a double each. Aidan Niemerg and Andy Lustig finished with a single and an RBI each. Also adding an RBI were Teagan Pals and Bryce Niebrugge.

The Shoes improved to 12-0 while Niemerg is now 2-0 on the pitching mound. Coach Justin Fleener’s crew is back in action Thursday at North Clay.

South Central was led by Luke Shumate with both hits, singles. The Cougars drop to 5-7 on the season and return to competition today at Dieterich in a 7 p.m. contest.

At Wayne City

Altamont came to Wayne City and pummeled the host squad by a 14-3 count in six innings Monday.

Wayne City actually held a 1-0 opening inning lead and led 2-1 after two.

But Altamont came back to tie the score in the third then went on a tear, scoring three in the fourth and fifth innings and six in the sixth to end the contest.

Carson Milleville had a double and drove in three runs while Cooper McManaway added a single, double and  two RBI. Kade Milleville produced three singles and drove in a run. Zaine Miller added a single, double and one RBI, Brayden Schnarre two singles and two RBI and Blake Berg a single and an RBI.

Kaiden Wolff tossed 5.1 innings, giving up three runs on six hits, three walks and striking out five.

At Odin

North Clay/Clay City pounded home 14 runs for a 14-0 victory over Odin.

The Cardinals are not 11-3 on the season. They return to action Thursday at Teutopolis in a 4:30 p.m. contest.
