STRASBURG — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg played host to Altamont in high school volleyball action Thursday evening and captured the victory.
In the varsity match, the Hatchets were winners 25-10, 26-24 to remain unbeaten at 3-0 in the National Trail Conference and 4-0 overall.
“The girls played an awesome first set within a new rotation,” said WSS Coach Ronda Schlechte. “Everything seemed to click. I loved the aggressiveness out there. We lost momentum in the second set after I changed the lineup around. They did fight to gain control, but we really need to clean that up. I’m looking forward to seeing what tomorrow brings at the Crossroads Classic.”
Brinlie Durbin and Cameron Carey led the winners with three aces each. Mya Friese had 13 kills and seven digs. Durbin led in assists with 22. Kenzie Thompson had one solo block.
Altamont was led by Hope Roedl with 13 digs, Riley Rippetoe with two kills and Laila Hankins with two blocks.
In the junior varsity contest, Windsor/Stew-Stras was a winner 25-10, 25-13 and is 4-0.
The freshman/sophomore match went to the Hatchets 25-13, 25-14. Windsor/Stew-Stras is 4-3-1.

Effingham St. Anthony defeated Robinson in two sets of varsity volleyball action Thursday.
The Bulldogs won 25-16, 25-14 and improved to 7-2 on the season.
Cara Hatton led the winners in kills with 11. Madelyn Gilmore and Audrey LaSarge had two blocks each. Madelyn Gilmore led in assists with 23. Nancy Ruholl had two aces.
St. Anthony also won the junior varsity match, 25-21, 25-18.
The Bulldogs aren’t back in action until Tuesday when they play host to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

Dieterich invaded Patoka and came out the winner in two sets Thursday, 25-21, 25-13.
Lydia Fuesting led the team in aces with five. Allie Uthell had two digs and three blocks. Bailey Brummer led in kills with four. Aliza Garner had four assists.
Dieterich improved to 4-7 on the season.

South Central fell to Wayne City in two sets Thursday.
Wayne City won 25-12, 25-16.
South Central dropped to 2-8 on the season. River Yingst had seven assists, two blocks and two aces. Lauren Johnson had four kills. Mya Schaal also had two blocked shots. Zoey Feldhake had four digs.

Edwards County came calling and picked up a varsity win over Newton Thursday.
Edwards County won 25-14, 25-19.
Bierman led Newton in kills with nine and had one block. Shull led in assists with eight. Meinhart had nine digs. The Eagles fell to 6-7 on the season.
Newton was a winner in the junior varsity match, 25-21, 25-22.
The Eagles also took the freshman match, 23-25, 25-19, 15-13.
