Ronald Dean Rude, age 73, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:40 AM- Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at HSHS Saint Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
A service honoring Ronald’s life will be held at 11:00 AM – Monday, September 15, 2025, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Larry Matson officiating. The burial will be in the South Muddy Cemetery north of Ingraham, Illinois. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the funeral home. Ronald was born on March 18, 1952, in Olney, Illinois, the son of Cleatus Dean and Eithel May (Rogers) Rude. He graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1971. Ronald served his country in the United States Army from 1977 till 1981. He was an over-the-road truck driver and mechanic for many years. Ronald was a Baptist by faith. He enjoyed gardening and tending to his bees.
Ronald is survived by: Children – Tom Rude of Newton, Illinois; Coleen Rude of Louisville, Illinois; Jennifer Biggs of Fairfield, Illinois; Tammie Acheson of Hays, Kansas; Tayna Boeckner of Hays, Kansas; and Mindy Rude of Centerline, Michigan; Brother – Carl Rude of Springfield, Missouri; Sister – Lina Griffy of Louisville, Illinois.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Rex and Danny Rude.
