 Incredible Night Of High School Boys Golf at Effingham Country Club

Effingham High School shoots four-under-par 140 To Win Golf Quadrangular.

It was an incredible day of golf at the Effingham Country Club Wednesday as Effingham High School shot a four-under-par 140 while Teutopolis finished with a one-under-par 143 to take first and second respectively in a boys golf quadrangular.

“Wow” said EHS Coach Jeff Schafer. “What an incredible night of golf by Teutopolis and Effingham. Nine kids shot 37 or better. Wow is all I can say.”

The Hearts were led by Leo Wyckoff with a two-under-par 34, Jude  Traub with a 35, Brody Boehm with a 35 and Jack Swingler with a 36. Others competing were Cannon Bockhorn 37, Owen Nuxoll 51, Allyn Koester 57 and Eli Wendling 58.

Teutopolis was led by medalist Coen Pennington with a three-under-par 33, Isaac Weber 36, Owen Kremer 37 and Matthew Habing 37. Non-counters were Landyn Thoele 42 and Kade Pennington 43.

Also competing were Sullivan 169 and Robinson 178. The Teutopolis junior varsity had a 168.

Sullivan scores were M. Monroe 39, C. Saul 40, K. Smith 44 and B. Stockard 44. Non-counters were D. Woolen 45 and J. Kinder 54.

Competing for Robinson were Ben Coonce 44, Reese Baker 44, Zach Chamblin 45, Mason Arnone 45, Hunter Murrell 49 and Layton Crumrin 53.

Teutopolis junior varsity competing were Eli Weber 39, Gavin Althoff 40, Jack Weber 44, Lane Ohnesorge 45, Ben Sandschafer 46 and Landon Huber 50.

 

At Olney

Effingham placed second and Effingham St. Anthony third at the Olney Girls Golf Invitational Wednesday at the Richland County Country Club.

Mount Carmel won with a 136 followed by Effingham 167, St. Anthony 178, Salem 183, Olney 199, Robinson 208, Charleston 227 and Oblong 240.

Medalist was Elyse Swanson with a 33.

Competing for the Hearts were Ella Tuman 40, Allison Kroenlein 40, Kylie Pryor 41, Makenna Mayhood 46, Natalie Armstrong 47 and Hannah Bockman 62.

Two golfers competed for North Clay as Kennedy Jones had a 47 and Mackenzie Winterrowd finished with a 49.

There were no golfers listed for St. Anthony.
