CHARLESTON — Cumberland finished second in the Charleston Boys Cross Country Invitational Saturday.
Area teams competing in the boys and girls meets were Effingham, Cumberland, Newton, Teutopolis and Neoga.
Mahomet-Seymour won the boys meet with 43 points followed by Cumberland 132, Champaign Central 133, Olney 145, Urbana 165, Charleston 166, Shelbyville 208, Mount Zion 215, Mattoon 287, Tuscola 287, Sullivan 297, Fairfield 361, Dieterich 365, Champaign Centennial 389, Newton 401, Danville 409, Effingham 433, Champaign St. Thomas More 441, Teutopolis 476, Casey-Westfield 524, Oblong 643 and Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin 671.
Olney High School’s Quad Berger finished in first place with a time of 14:43.71.
Effingham’s Alex Gordon finished fourth in 15:39.61. Dieterich’s Trevor Crutcher was 10th in 15:48.54.
Cumberland’s Cameron Roedl took 15th in 15:59.89 while Colby Roedl was 18th in 16:29.69. Also scoring for the Pirates were Gavin Whitaker 37th in 17:15.24, Aydan Oakley 38th in 17:16.11 and Damien Chardon 43rd in 17:21.21.
In the girls meet, Shelbyville was the team champion with 51 points followed by Mahomet-Seymour 56, Mount Zion 117, Olney 159, Newton 164, Champaign Centennial 172, Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammond 186, Champaign Central 231, Fairfield 238, Effingham 274, Champaign St. Thomas More 344, Bismarck-Henning-Rossville-Alvin 356, Dieterich 369, Urbana 393, Casey-Westfield 396, Teutopolis 418, Neoga 426 and Charleston 440.
Tuscola’s Kate Foltz won the meet with a time of 17:05.15.
Newton’s Layna Marshall was ninth in 19:29.48.

Kynlie Rohr finished 23rd with a time of 13:33.5. Arya Smith took 42nd in 14:01.7 while Baylee Bierman was 55th in 14:20.3.
Kennedy Jones finished 84trh with a time of 15:03.9. Addisyn Schackman was 90th in 15:20.9. Izzy Schwerman took 96th in 15:36.9 and Jillian Hess was 97th in 15:43.2
