Fire destroyed a machine shed Friday morning near Strasburg.

Firefighters were called just after 9am about three miles east and north of Strasburg. The structure was owned by Marilyn Figgins. The cause of the fire is still being determined, but it began in the hay part of the building. Tractors, a mower, and a tiller were also in the building.

No one was injured, and some horses next to the building escaped unharmed.

Strasburg firefighters were assisted by companies from Stewardson, Windsor, Shelbyville, Neoga, Sigel, Shumway, Sullivan, Tri-County and Effingham, along with Stewardson Ambulance.

Fire crews cleared the scene about 1:30pm.
