 Teutopolis Beats Neoga, North Clay Wins, BSE Drops One Run Baseball Loss

TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School improved to 3-0 in fall baseball by beating Neoga 12-2 in six innings Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes went out to a 5-1 opening inning lead and pushed that to 8-1 in the second. They finished with a 12-hit count led by Michael Habing with two singles, a double and an RBI, Aidan Niemerg with a single, triple and two RBI, Davin Worman a single and triple, Ozzie Pals a double and two RBI and Bryce NIebrugge and Hayden Tebbe with a double and an RBI each. Kendall Mette added a double, Nolan Schumacher a single and an RBI and Austin Borries, Gavin Addis and Teagan Pals an RBI each.

B. Niebrugge took the pitching win. He went two innings, allowing one run on three hits, no walks while striking out three. N. Schumacher went two innings with five strikeouts and Blake Niemerg finished out the final two innings, giving up two hits, one run, one walk and striking out one.

Neoga had five hits led by Grady Haarman with a double and an RBI, Cayden Hakman a double and Braylon Sparrow a single and an RBI. The Indians drop to 1-1-1 on the season and are back in action at Dieterich today.

T-town improved to 3-0 and will play host to its own Wooden Bat Tournament Saturday. T-town will face Effingham St. Anthony at 9 a.m. and North Clay takes on Dieterich at 11 a.m. The losers will play for third place at 1 p.m. and the winners for the championship at 3.

At Wayne City

Wayne City scored the winning run over Brownstown/St. Elmo in the bottom of the eighth inning by an 8-7 count Thursday.

Wayne City and BSE were tied at 1-1 after two innings. BSE move into a 5-4 lead in the third. Wayne City tied in the fourth.

BSE then moved into a 7-5 lead in the fifth. But here came Wayne City with two in the bottom of the sixth and then won the game in the eighth.

Dodge Willms led BSE with three singles and an RBI. Jayce Gillespie and Logan Lach had a single and double each. Gillespie added an RBI. Nolan Wilhour and Lucas Powell had a single and an RBI each and Zayden Gillespie added an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo dropped to 2-2 on the season and will be back in action today at Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City.

At Centralia

North Clay easily handled Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Thursday.

The Cardinals won 12-2 to remain unbeaten on the season at 4-0. The Cardinals are back in action today against Effingham St. Anthony at 4:30 p.m.
