North Clay school board members heard this week from John Logan Zink of the North Clay Park District.

Zink spoke about the intergovernmental agreement between the school district and the park district, particularly the ball diamond built at the school complex.

Zink said the Park District is requesting from the School District a partial reimbursement for the construction costs of the baseball field. He explained that the Park District has maintained much of the field, including utility costs such as water bills. He also shared that the Park District has not been using the field for its own purposes and would like to see the school district take on full ownership and responsibility for the field.

The Board approved a bus bid from Central States to purchase three new buses at $107,000 each after trading in three school buses for $62,000 each. The Board also placed the tentative fiscal year on file and will act on the measure at their September meeting.

Board members accepted the letter of resignation of Chris Smith as fulltime custodian then hired Alison Gibson as fulltime custodian; approved family leave days for Hanah Clark; hired DeAnn Hronec as a fulltime bus driver; and authorized the administration to hire non-certified staff as needed.
