 Junior High Cross Country — August 16 Results

Effingham Junior High School competed in its first cross country meet of the season at the Effingham Sports Complex at Effingham High School.

Dieterich and Mattoon also competed in the meet, which was the opening weekend of the IESA cross country season.

Both the girls and boys teams of EJHS captured victories. The boys won with 26 followed by Mattoon 29 and Dieterich 76.

For the boys, eighth-grader Jared Klingler ran away with the win with a time of 11:31.81, followed by eighth-grader Maddux Wyckoff with a time of 12:45.70 in second place, eighth-grader Carson Mihlbacher in sixth place with a time of 13:58.92, eighth-grader Trenton Partlow in seventh place with a time of 14:03.74 and seventh-grader Cayden Jolly 10th with a time of 14:42.23.

The girls tallied 18 with Dieterich 55 and Mattoon 61.

The girls were led by seventh-grader Kynlie Rohr with a time of 14:43.43, placing first. Seventh-grader Baylee Bierman finished second with a time of 15:29.77 followed by eighth-grader Addisyn Schackmann in third with a time of 15:46.24, sixth-grader Kennedy Jones with a time of 16:28.70 came in fifth place and fifth-grader Lindsey Lovett placed seventh with a time of 16:43.95 to wrap up the top five for the girls. There were 25 total runners.

This is the first time Effingham Junior High School has fifth-graders competing.
