Susan Diane Dobbs, 61, of Effingham, IL, passed away at 7:48 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, with loved ones by her side, in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.
Details of a memorial service to honor her memory will be shared once arrangements are finalized. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society and mailed to Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.
Susan, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend was born on June 8, 1964, in Shelbyville, IL, the daughter of Kenneth L. and Dorothy M. (Hudson) Dobbs. She attended high school in Windsor and later in Shelbyville. Susan lived and worked in the Effingham area for many years. She faced her first battle with cancer with strength and grace and celebrated her triumph over cancer when it first went into remission and continued to embrace life fully until it returned. She enjoyed fishing and poured her heart into being a grandmother, finding the greatest joy in the laughter and adventures of her youngest grandchildren. Susan will be remembered for her love of animals, especially her dog, Benny, and her cat, Pip. In her final years, Susan found love and companionship with her devoted partner, Wayne.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Derek Dobbs (Jessi) of Flagler Beach, FLand Zachary Butkauskas of Forrest City, AR; longtime partner, Wayne Campe of Effingham, IL; eight grandchildren, Haley, Wiatt, Charlee, Zander and Kasper Butkauskas, Gabriella Elders, and Kendall and Cohen Dobbs; brother, Russell Dobbs of Lakewood, IL; sisters, Kathy Roessler of Shelbyville, IL, Carla Curtis (John) of Shelbyville, IL, and Pam Tomaszewski (Mark) of Tower Hill, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Dobbs; mother, Dorothy M. Riley; infant grandson, Aden Butkauskas; and infant brother, Kenny Bruce Dobbs.
