 Cubs’ Horton Tosses Win Over Blue Jays, Rockies Rally Past Cardinals, M.L.B. Roundup

TORONTO — Matt Shaw and Michael Busch knocked out a home run each and the Chicago Cubs got a good pitching performance from Cade Horton to beat the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-1 Wednesday.

Horton went 5 2/3 innings, striking out eight and now has won four straight from the mound. He gave up only one hit, two walks and one run. He is now 7-3 on the season.

Busch hit a lead-off home run in the third, his 23rd of the season, while Shaw hit one in the fifth, his 10th of the season. Busch also had a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. Seiya Suzuki finished with an RBI single.

The Blue Jays and Cubs return to play each other today with Matthew Boyd going to the mound for the Cubs.

 

At St. Louis

The Colorado Rockies rallied to edge the St. Louis Cardinals, 6-5 Wednesday.

Hunter Goodman hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning that pulled the Rockies ahead for good. Kyle Karros had led off the frame by drawing a walk.

Mickey Monaik hit a homer for the Rockies and Kyle Karros finished with two hits and scored two times.

The Cardinals also had home runs as Lars Nootbaar and Alec Burleson hit the long ball. Pedro Pages finished with two hits and two RBI.

The Cardinals will remain at home to the New York Yankees Friday. Andre Pallante has the call to the mound.
