The new school year is less than a month away, and the Neoga school district is getting ready.
Neoga’s community and especially their school district were impacted when a tornado clobbered the school complex in March. In the aftermath, Grades 9-12 classes will continue to meet at the Neoga Community Building. It helps that the building is a former school building. A portable classroom will house the Ag classroom behind the Community Building.
Meanwhile, junior high classes will meet in a portable building in the elementary school parking lot.
K. Wohltman Construction of Effingham is doing demolition work at the school complex.
The Neoga board acted on several personnel matters at this month’s meeting. A resignation was accepted from Becky Fogarty as National Honor Society sponsor. Several people were hired, including Danny Weishaar as a custodian, Jill Shaw as junior high Student Council sponsor, Magin Russell as junior high PBIS sponsor, Mercedes Peters as high school volleyball coach, and Erika McSparran as assistant high school volleyball coach.
