Glen Walter Bierman (91) of Island Grove

Glen Walter Bierman, 91, of Island Grove passed away on Friday, June 27, 2025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Jasper County 4-H Foundation, Meals on Wheels, or charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.

Glen was born December 12, 1933 to Allie & Agnes (Kinkelaar) Bierman.  Glen married Marlene Rose Hinterscher on November 29, 1961 and she preceded him in death on August 12, 2018.

Glen was a life long dairy and grain farmer in Island Grove, taking over the farm at a young age of 16 when his dad passed away in a Milk Truck accident. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Glen was a member of the St. Joseph Men’s sodality.  He also served on the EJ Water board, Jasper County Soil and Water Conservation and was a North Muddy Township Trustee, Jasper Co Farm Bureau member and Effingham Knights of Columbus.

Glen is survived by his children, Susan (Mike) Platz of Sigel, Linda Pruemer of Teutopolis, Samuel (Stacie) Bierman of Island Grove, and Cynthia (Allen) Konkel of Teutopolis; daughter-in-law, Lori Bierman of Island Grove; grandchildren, Stephanie Cox, Michelle (Austin) Paine, Natalie Bierman, Tyler (Paige) Platz, Alyssa (Adam) Kessler, Bailey (Cory) Meyer, Maci (Cory) Westfall, Jared (Karli) Pruemer, Connor, Reid and Griffin Bierman, Derek and Emily Konkel, and 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Loretta Uthell; sister-in-law, Marcella Bierman; brother-in-law, Melvin Probst; brothers-in-law, Delbert (Anne) Hinterscher and Franklin (Hilda) Hinterscher; sisters-in-law, Sandra Hinterscher and Mary Hinterscher.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Timothy Bierman; son-in-law, Dale Pruemer; brother, Arthur Bierman; sisters, Lucille Probst, Clarice Probst and Estella Bierman; brothers-in-law, Herman Joe Hinterscher, Allan (Dee Dee) Hinterscher, and LeRoy Hinterscher.
