Lake Land College President Josh Bullock was the guest speaker at the Effingham Noon Rotary Club meeting on June 18.
Bullock reminded that a Grand Opening is scheduled for July 30 for the Effingham Technology Center. The facility will house classes for Lake Land and for the Effingham Regional Technology Center, as well as remaining a local headquarters for Patterson Company in Effingham. To make sure all facilities are utilized, the college recently completed agreement on the leasing of the entire first floor of the Kluthe Center to the Regional Office of Education.
Bullock reminded that Lake Land is approaching its 60th anniversary, and continues to grow. He noted that the college reduced its levy rate for the seventh year in a row and “continues to adapt college to the lives of our students.”
Bullock said Lake Land serves 31 school districts. He pointed to a major reduction in fossil fuel consumption, advances in nursing, augmented reality training. Bullock also noted that the new technology center will provide real life nursing scenarios, and that student services will be relocated there.
Carl Schwinke served as Rotary weekly program chairman.
