The Effingham Unit 40 school board will hold a special meeting Monday regarding an end to bond issue plans for a Grades K-2 building.
The meeting will begin at 5pm at the Unit offices on South Banker. Only two items are on the agenda. One is rejecting a Guaranteed Maximum Price Agreement with Holland Construction. The other is a resolution for the payment of the outstanding debt certificates issued earlier this year.
The special meeting was expected after a petition drive asking for a public vote on whether to issue bonds generated almost 3,000 signatures. That prompted Superintendent Andy Johnson to ask that an earlier vote on funding for the project be rescinded and that consideration of new facilities “go back to the drawing board.”
