Four individuals have been arrested in a theft and burglary investigation reportedly involving incidents in Effingham and Moultrie counties.

Effingham County Sheriff Paul Kuhns said the Moultrie County Sheriff’s Office reported a burglary that occurred at a residence in Gays on Wednesday. An investigation into a vehicle reportedly involved came back to Effingham County. Kuhns said an investigation locally led to the recovery of items both in and outside Effingham, with both the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office and the Effingham City Police Department involved.

The sheriff said the investigation continued Thursday as a search warrant was executed and led to the recovery of more stolen items locally.

Kuhns said the recoveries and the arrests were the result of good old-fashioned police work and again commended the cooperative nature of the work between city and county authorities.

Arrested on counts of theft and possession of $500 to $10,000 worth of stolen property were 38-year-old Mathew Koberlein of Effingham and 42-year-old Corey J. Fellows of Effingham, 31-year-old Robert J. Bone, Jr. of Effingham, and 39-year-old Dustin L. Voris of Watson.

Fellows, Bone and Voris were taken to Moultrie County regarding the items recovered there. Koberlein remained in Effingham County, as he had been arrested locally Wednesday on counts of possession of methamphetamine and methamphetamine delivery. Voris had been arrested with Koberlein on the drug charges on Wednesday.
