Brownstown school board members Monday approved a resolution of intent to issue up to $7.2 million in funding bonds.
The bonds will finance construction of an area that will include a breezeway to connect the two district buildings to keep students out of inclement weather. The project is to be completed in time for the 2026-2027 school year.
The Board also improved administrator salaries for the upcoming school year, approved a three-year contract with bookkeeper Jacy Schaub, and approved an intergovernmental agreement with Public Consulting Group for the coming school year.
In personnel action, the Brownstown board employed Mercedes Behrends as junior/senior high school secretary, Kaitlyn Mills as an elementary teacher, Jennifer Tackett as a Special Education teacher, Tammy McKinney a district art teacher, and Nicole Underbrink as an elementary paraprofessional.
The Board adopted an amended budget for the coming school year, and awarded bids for workers compensation and property/casualty insurance coverage.
