FARLEY, IA. — It was a Nelson family gathering. Jared Nelson, from Altamont, claimed the championship of the Farley Nationals 300 during the weekend.
The major truck and tractor pulling event is held annually at 300 Raceway in Farley, Iowa. The three-day invitational features qualifying rounds Thursday and Friday and finals Saturday.
Nelson was ninth in Session 2 on Friday and advanced to the Finals. He claimed the championship with 358.539. He drives a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado named Midnight Revenger.
Jeremy Nelson, Jared’s brother, finished fourth. He was fifth in Thursday’s Session 1 and came back to take fourth with Midnight Gambler, a 1941 Dodge Panel Van with 347.320.
Jared’s wife Bethany finished 14th with Sweet Revenge, a 1972 Chevrolet C10. She was sixth in the first session Thursday. She finished at 334.180.
Tanner Nelson, Jeremy’s son and Jared’s nephew, finished 15th with Midnight Chaos Reloaded in 333.540. He finished eighth in Session 2 Friday.
Dale Nelson, Jared and Jeremy’s dad, was 18th in Session 2 Friday and did not advance to Saturday’s finals.
Fifty trucks were invited to the Nationals.
