BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox pulled off a shocking trade during the weekend. They sent Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants.
Devers, the last player from the team’s World Series title team of 2018, went to the Giants in exchange for left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks and two prospects, James Tibbs III, an outfielder, and right-handed pitcher Jose Bello.
Hicks has a 6.47 ERA with 43 strikeouts and 20 walks. Harrison has a 4.56 ERA giving up 21 hits, four home runs, nine walks and striking out 25.
Devers, is hitting .272 with 74 hits, 15 home runs and 58 RBI. He was moved from third base, a position he played his whole career, and was angry over that move. He became the designated hitter then was asked to play first base but refused so there was tension during this season.
