Betty Joan Fasnacht age 88, of St. Elmo, IL (formerly of Jasper County) passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, at Lakeland Rehab & Health Care, Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Betty’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Kevin Colclasure officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, from 2:00 p.m. until time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery, Bogota, Illinois.
Betty was born on September 25, 1936, in Bogota, Illinois, the daughter of Jasper Newton and Lillie Alberta (Osburn) Jayne. On October 15, 1955, Betty married Albert E. Fasnacht. Betty spent her life as a wife, mother and homemaker. In her free time, Betty loved spending time outdoors. She enjoyed hunting mushrooms and camping. Her family were her pride and joy. She and Albert loved following their children and grandchildren’s sports teams and attending their programs. Betty loved animals, especially the many cats she faithfully tended each day. In her later years, she enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles.
Betty will be loved and remembered by her husband of sixty-nine years, Albert E. Fasnacht of St. Elmo; children, Steven Ray (Heather) Fasnacht of Metropolis, IL, Timothy Wayne Fasnacht of St. Elmo and Jayna Cristy (Sandy) Mueller of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Desireé, Sarah, MacKenzie, Justin, Matthew; Maranda, Kellen, Derek, Haley, Karlie, Emily; Emily, Connor; several great grandchildren; and sister Jeanette Fear of Johnson City, IL.
Her parents, son David Elvin Fasnacht, and siblings Robert Jayne, Barbara Smith, Jerry Jayne, Tom Jayne, Nancy Littlejohn and Vickie Drake preceded her in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Betty may be made to Jim Beam’s Corner Cattery.
