Corey Taylor, 54 of Effingham, passed away at 1:09pm on Wednesday, June 4th 2025.
Corey was born on September 10, 1970 in Effingham IL to William (Bill) and Janet Kay (Gass) King. Corey was an English professor having taught at Lakeland College and Eastern Illinois University. He was an author of 3 published books and many short stories and articles in magazines. Corey was an incredible artist. He had a true talent for drawing & painting. He also had an eye & love for photography. He loved his chihuahuas, Rugby & Chupa, and was never without them.
Corey is survived by his sister, Emalei (Brian) Koester of Teutopolis; niece, Fallon Koester of Effingham; nephews, Tony (Andrea) Koester of Altamont, Clint Koester (Gabi Hardiek) of Dieterich, Lane Koester (Laura Lidy) of Teutopolis, and Evan Koester of Teutopolis; great-nephews, PJ & Bryan Koester; great nieces, Haleigh & Raelynn Koester all of Altamont, Destiny, Kinleigh & Ellie Eubanks of Indiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a great niece, Rosalyn Koester and his beloved pets.
At Corey’s request there will be no services. Bauer Funeral Home is assisting the family.
