Altamont city council members Tuesday sold a piece of property at 107 North Main Street.
Ron Myers of RDM Cabinetry purchased the lot for $10,500.
Also Tuesday, the Altamont council implemented a grocery retailers’ occupation tax and a municipal grocery service occupation tax. The taxes replace the former state grocery tax. When the state retired their tax, municipalities were given the option of implementing their own tax to not lose any revenue.
The Council executed advertising sign permit agreements for signage at Gilbert Park. A 12-year agreement was approved with Jared Nelson Trucking and a five-year agreement was approved with Weber Optiks. Each will amount to an average of $200 per year.
Council members authorized the sale at auction of a 2004 pickup truck that was used by the water department.
The Council also approved payment to Courts and Cracks totaling $12,700 for repainting of Nori’s Yard multi-use court. The court can be used for pickleball, basketball and tennis. Local resident Sharon Harper went out and raised funds equal to half the project cost.
