Margaret J. Genn was born on Saturday, June 12, 1943 in Vandalia, to Lewis and Cora (Shinn) Leininger. She married Donald Steven Genn on February 14, 1976. She was a dietary manager at Heritage Manor in Pana and had worked at Fayette County Hospital for 27 years and retired from Friendship Manor in St. Elmo. Prior to Margaret going into the Haven of St. Elmo, she enjoyed spending time with her husband and friends at Conservation Club 100. You could often find her sitting on her front porch, enjoying the quietness and beautiful view of the lake. Margaret’s pure pride and joy were her grandchildren. Over the last 3 years as her health declined, you could always see the light in her eyes when those grandchildren entered the room, even during the last few days here on earth. Their grandma/GaGa will be missed terribly.

She is survived by: her husband of over 49 years, Steve of Alma; son, Todd (Nancy) Blackwell of Brownstown; daughters, Lisa (Fred) Coleman of Donnellson, and Jennifer (Trent) Logue of Beecher City; 14 Grandchildren, Stephanie (Dustalynn) Blackwell, Cody (Kaitlynn) Morrison, Kyle (Mackenzie) Morrison, Bo (Adrienne) Blackwell, Anthony Wernle, Blake (Katelyn) Coleman, Erika (Coltin) Green, Alex Blackwell, Alexis Blackwell, Rodney Blackwell, Maizie (Brendon) Hollowell, Makayla Blackwell, Audria Logue, and Jayse Logue; 24 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patricia Machado of St. Elmo, and sister-in-law Shirley (David) Chapin of Modesto, California.; and several nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by: her parents; son, William ‘Billy’ Blackwell; and her sister, Mary Jane Briggs and brother-in-law Dave Machado.
