ALTAMONT — Area competitors from Effingham St. Anthony, Altamont, Brownstown/St. Elmo, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Cumberland, Dieterich, Neoga, Newton, North Clay (Louisville) and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg competed at the Class 1A Altamont Boys Sectional Wednesday.
Vandalia won the team championship with 92 points followed by Cumberland 78, Altamont 73, Casey-Westfield 73, Flora 68, Newton 66, Effingham St. Anthony 45, Teutopolis 45, Neoga 28, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 25, Marshall 25, Brownstown/St. Elmo 20, Dieterich 18, North Clay 12, Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 11, Red Hill (Bridgeport) 10, Lawrenceville 10 and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 2.
St. Anthony, Altamont, Brownstown/St. Elmo, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, Cumberland, Dieterich, Neoga, Newton, North Clay and Teutopolis will all be represented next week at the Class 1A State Track Meet.

EFFINGHAM ST. ANTHONY
Noah Flaig who won the 800 in 2:04.31 minutes. Camden Bloemer finished second in the 3200 in 10:20.48. Calvin Sudkamp was fourth in the high jump with a qualifying standard of 1.85.
ALTAMONT
Ben Roedl won the high jump at 1.97 meters, the long jump at 6.81 and the triple jump at 13.91.
Hayden Summers won the 300 hurdles in 40.89.
Brock Wendling was third in the shot with a throw of 14.69 which reached the State qualifying standard.
The 4×400 relay team of Jacob Johnson, Hayden Bridges, Trent Tedrick and Hayden Summers finished second with a time of 3:32.96.
BROWNSTOWN/ST. ELMO
Trenten Monnet advanced in the shot with a first place finish and a heave of 15.74 meters and also won the discus with a throw of 42.08.
COWDEN-HERRICK/BEECHER CITY
August Cosart was the champion in the 1600 in 4:38.51 minutes.
CUMBERLAND
Reid Carlen finished second in the 100 in 10.93 seconds and second in the 200 in 22.17 seconds. Logan Gerhardt took second in the 300 hurdles in 41.16.
DIETERICH
Trevor Crutcher won the 3200 in 9:59.00 minutes and finished second in the 1600 in 4:40.24 minutes
NEOGA
The 4×800 relay team of Lucas Keller, Jayton Hanfland, Kaden Bryant and Brett Matusus was second in the 4×800 relay with a time of 8:33.23.
NEWTON
Owen Schackmann finished second in the 110 hurdles in 15.88 and was third in the 300 hurdles with a qualifying time of 42.59
Wade Wickham was second in the discus with a throw of 42.06 and was third in the pole vault with a qualifying standard of 3.70 meters.
The 4×800 relay team of Jackson Sornberger, Parker Harris, Tanner Whitaker and Hayden Borgic advanced by winning in 8:30.88.
NORTH CLAY
Mason Byers took second place in the 400 in 52.07 seconds.
TEUTOPOLIS
Karson Zerrusen won the 110 hurdles in 15.07 seconds.
Anthony Roley finished second in the shot with a heave of 14.95 meters.
Brant Niebrugge won the pole vault at 4.01 meters.
