 Windsor/Stew-Stras, South Central Advance In Softball Regionals

STRASBURG — Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg opened play in its own Class 1A Softball Regional by trouncing St. Elmo/Brownstown by a 15-0 count Tuesday.

The Hatchets ran out to a 10-0 opening inning lead then added on five more runs in the third and ended the game in four innings.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had nine hits led by Zaida Wascher and Samantha Hayes with two singles and three RBI each. Kendra Hayes and Clarissa Johnson had two singles each with Hayes adding an RBI. Mya Friese finished with a single and an RBI. Alaira Friese had two RBI while Kierra Mueller, Alexis Gee, Katelyn VonBehrens and Cameron Carey had one RBI each.

S. Hayes went two innings for the pitching win. She allowed one hit, one walk and struck out six. K. Hayes went an inning giving up one walk and striking out two while Friese tossed the final two innings with two strikeouts.

Windsor/Stew-Stras advances to the championship game  Friday at 4:30 p.m. The Hatchets will take on either Altamont or Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. Those two teams meet today at 4:30 p.m. weather permitting.

Class 1A Martinsville Regional

Area teams did not fare well at the Martinsville Regional Tuesday.

Casey-Westfield handed Neoga a 10-0 loss in the first game.

Martinsville then edged Dieterich 12-9 in the second contest.

Casey-Westfield and Marshall will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.

 

Class 1A Hutsonville Regional

South Central pounded out 17 hits and ended this game over North Clay/Clay City 18-2 in four innings Tuesday.

The Cougars took a 4-0 opening inning lead, tacked on three in the second, one in the third and finished with 10 in the fourth.

Maddie Peddicord had a double, home run and drove in three. Amelia Montes had two singles, a double and three RBI. Kinlee Thompson finished with two singles, a double and two RBI.  Kaitlynn Swift added a single, double and three RBI while Abi Shuler finished with a single, double and two RBI, Bri Buchanan had two singles and an RBI. Lauren Johnson and Zoey Feldhake had a double and an RBI each. Perci Reid had a single and an RBI.

Johnson went the four innings, giving up two runs on two hits, walking three and striking out six.

North Clay/Clay City had two hits, singles by Avery Romack and Leigha Ruesken. Ava Zimmerman had an RBI.

Hutsonville/Palestine and Oblong meet at 5 p.m. today in the third contest.

South Central will take on the winner of the third game at 5 p.m. Friday for the regional championship.

Class 2A Flora Regional

The Newton vs. Lawrenceville game Tuesday has been rescheduled for today at 4 p.m. The second contest, Breese Mater Dei vs. Flora was also rescheduled for today for 6:30 p.m.

 

Class 2A Teutopolis Regional

Marshall edged Paris in the second game of the Teutopolis Regional Tuesday. Marshall was a 1-0 winner.

Marshall advances to the championship game scheduled for Friday at 4:30 p.m.

Today’s scheduled game has Teutopolis and Effingham St. Anthony meeting at 4:30 p.m. The winner then advances to the championship.
