Teutopolis, Effingham and two teams from Newton advanced from the bass fishing regional at Newton Lake.
Teutopolis No. 1 won the regional with 17.60 pounds as Brody Thoele, a senior, won the Big Bass award with a 5.17 pound bass.
Following the top team were Newton No. 1 16.40, Olney, Richland County No. 2 16.31, Newton No. 2 15.60, Effingham No. 2 15.08, Olney, Richland County No. 1 13.64, Casey-Westfield No. 1 12.88, Effingham St. Anthony No. 1 11.28, Oblong No. 1 10.98, Teutopolis No. 2 10.87, Effingham St. Anthony No. 2 10.70, North Clay No. 1 10.55, Effingham No. 1 1054, Dieterich No. 1 10.51, Palestine No. 1 10.36, Oblong No. 2 9.78, North Clay No. 28.73, Dieterich No. 2 7.70 and Casey-Westfield No. 2 6.99.
The top four teams advanced and that included Teutopolis No. 1 with Head Coach Lee Buehnerkemper, Driver Lance Dasenbrock and team members Dawson Hoene, Brody Thoele and Brady Bloemer. Effingham No. 2 with Head Coach Drew Deters, Driver Chad Harminson and team members Kade Sarver and Kylie Harminson. Newton No. 1 with Head Coach Chris Bradley, Driver Chris Bradley and team members Bradley Kyson, Lain Burgner, Alex Gier and Garrett Bradley and Newton No. 2 with Head Coach Chris Bradley, Driver Gunner James and team members Landon Kirts, Beau Bennett and Evan Johnston. Olney also advanced as a team.
Windsor had two teams advancing from the Lake Mattoon Regional. Windsor No. 2 won with 12.8 pounds followed by Windsor No. 1 with 11.8. The two teams were followed by Broadlands Heritage No. 1 8.4, Charleston No. 2 6.2, Charleston No. 1 5.3, Sullivan No. 1 3.9, Broadlands Heritage No. 2 2.9, Georgetown-Ridge Farm No. 1 2.3, Shelbyville No. 1 1.9, Bethany Okaw Valley No. 1 1.8, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond No. 1 1.1, Bethany Okaw Valley No. 2 1 and Neoga No. 1 .95. Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond, Sullivan, Shelbyville, Kansas and Georgetown Ridge Farm did not register any fish.
Windsor No. 2 with Head Coach Pat O’Dell, Driver Brad Verdeyen and team members Collin Hewing, Lucas Bierman, Max Mueller and Kaylin Saunders. Windsor No. 1 with Head Coach Pat O’Dell and team members Myles Verdeyen, Hayden Porter and Heath Westendorf all advanced.
The Big Bass award went to Collin Hewing of Windsor with 3 pounds, 6 ounces.
The qualifiers from Lake Mattoon and Newton Lake advance to the Clinton Lake Sectional Thursday, May 22.
South Central competed at Forbes Lake. The Cougars had two teams that finished seventh with 5 pounds 3 ounces and eighth with 4 pounds, 15 ounces.
South Central will be the alternate at sectional action. Head Coach is Gary Payne with Driver Glen Wegner. Team members are Zane Montes, Evan Hoover and Kaiden Harrell.
The qualifiers from the Forbes Lake Sectional advance to the Lake of Egypt Sectional Thursday, May 22.
Qualifiers from sectional action will advance to the State Finals June 2.
