High School Volleyball Season Opens

TEUTOPOLIS -- Salem came calling at Teutopolis and handed the Wooden Shoes a loss 25-8, 25-14 as volleyball season got underway Thursday evening.

Natalie Summers led the Shoes in kills with four and had one ace. Katelyn Ruholl led in assists with six. Lucy Niemerg had seven digs.

Salem also picked up the junior varsity win, 25-23, 25-21 and claimed a freshman/sophomore contest 25-16, 25-11.

T-town is back in action Tuesday hosting Cowden-Herrick.

At Brownstown

Dieterich picked up a varsity victory over Brownstown. The Movin' Maroons lost the opener 25-20 but came back strong with 25-17, 25-21 scores.

Tori Hardiek scored 12 points for the Maroons. Landriah Hardiek had eight assists. Candace Niemerg led in digs with 10 and kills with 10. Madison Boerngen had four blocks and led in aces with three.

In junior varsity action, Brownstown was the winner. Dieterich claimed the opener 27-25 but Brownstown came back to win 25-17, 25-19.
