What was billed as a Taxpayer Revolt Rally was held Sunday in Effingham.

The event was sponsored by St. Reps. Blaine Wilhour of Beecher City, Darren Bailey of Xenia, Brad Halbrook of Shelbyville, and Chris Miller of Oakland, as well as St. Reps. John Cabello of Machesney Park and Dan Caulkins of Decatur. The Republican legislators also appeared with St. Rep. candidates Adam Niemerg from the 109th District and Paul Jacobs from the 115th District and 15th District congressional candidate Mary Miller.

The group, all Republicans, pushed for changes in fiscal practices in Illinois and, in Mary Miller's case, the nation. Bailey also encouraged voters to look for "reform-minded" candidates.

Wilhour said the governor's progressive tax plan "is not a real solution to overtaxed working families. It will only serve to ensure that Springfield and Chicago politicians have even more power and influence over us."
