T-town Blanks Altamont, Dieterich, BSE, Newton, North Clay Nab H.S. Baseball Victories, St. A Postponed Due To Lightning

TEUTOPOLIS — Teutopolis High School moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead and went on to blank Altamont in high school baseball competition by an 8-0 count Monday.

Teutopolis’ Michael Niebrugge threw a one-hitter in six innings. He gave up four walks while striking out nine to improve his record on the mound to 3-0. Andrew Probst finished out the final inning, giving up one walk and striking out two.

M. Niebrugge, Dawson Hoene, Davin Worman and Jason Kreke finished with two singles each. Kreke added two RBI while D. Hoene had one. Henry Thompson had a single and three RBI and Austin Borries and Aidan Niemerg produced an RBI each.

Altamont’s lone hit was a single by Will Reardon.

Teutopolis improved to 23-4 on the season and will be back in action today playing host to Benton.

The Indians fell to 17-8 on the season and won’t return to play until Thursday hosting Salem

At Dieterich

Dieterich edged out to a 1-0 opening inning lead. But Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tied at 1-1 in the second.

The game then went through four scoreless innings before the Maroons tallied the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the 2-1 victory Monday.

Tradan Kessler was the runner at third base and came home on a passed ball.

Dieterich had only two hits, singles by Carson Baxter and Gavin Meinhart.

Bryce Bohnhoff tossed a five-hitter with three walks and five strikeouts.

The Bobcats were led in hitting by Kale Hardimon and Conner Nowitzke with two singles each. Wyatt Rueff added the other single.

Rueff suffered the tough-luck loss, going 5.1 innings, allowing one run on two hits, two walks while striking out eight.

At Sauget

Brownstown/St. Elmo blanked Mulberry Grove by a 16-0 count in a game played at the Grizzlies ballpark at GCS Stadium in Sauget Monday.

Dodge Willms tossed a four-inning no-hitter. He gave up only one walk and struck out 12

The Bombers finished with four hits and were aided by three Mulberry Grove errors.

Zayden Gillespie had the lone extra base hit with a triple and three RBI. Keelan Speagle, Willms and Nolan Wilhour had a single each. Speagle and Willms added an RBI.

Brownstown/St. Elmo is now 7-13 on the season and returns to action today against Woodlawn.

At Sauget

The score was tied at 2-2 after three innings Monday. Newton then tallied what would prove to be the winning run in the fourth for the 3-2 victory over Casey-Westfield.

The Eagles had only three hits, doubles by David Ferguson and Gavin Meinhart and a single by Quincy Fulton. Drake Wolf added an RBI.

Carter Barthelme tossed a six-hitter with two walks and two strikeouts.

Newton won the Little Illini Conference outright with a perfect 7-0 record. The Eagles are now 15-11 overall.
