Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg won the National Trail Conference Tournament championship.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Effingham St. Anthony 5-4 to claim the championship of the National Trail Conference Softball Tournament Friday.
The Hatchets moved into a 2-0 opening inning lead as Alaira Friese singled with one out. Samantha Hayes followed with a single and Clarrisa Johnson walked to load the bases. Kendra Hayes then followed with a single that scored both runs.
That lead stood until the third when St. Anthony retaliated with two runs to knot the score. With one out, Addy Rios singled and stole second. Lilly Gannaway followed with a single and then stole second. Julia Schultz followed with a double that scored both runners.
The Hatchets followed in the third with a rattling of the bats as A. Friese led off with a single and S. Hayes followed with a single but the Bulldogs squelched that rally by getting the next three batters out.
The Bulldogs went up and down in order in the fourth. Windsor/Stew-Stras’ Zaida Wascher led off the bottom half of the fourth with a single but was left stranded.
Then in the top of the fifth, Rios singled, stole second and third and reached home on a passed ball and St. Anthony moved head 3-2.
But, here came the Hatchets in the bottom of the frame. A. Friese reached base on an error and S. Hayes singled. Johnson then had a sacrifice that moved the runners over. K. Hayes drew a walk. and Ellie Wittenborg reached on a fielder’s choice. When the dust had cleared, A. Friese had scored and the Hatchets tied the score at 3-3.
The game was exciting to the end. St. Anthony took a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh as Rios led off with a double, her fourth time on base in four at-bats. Gannaway followed with her second single and Schultz drew a walk to load the bases. Ava Walton then followed with a ground out that scored Rios for an RBI.
Then it was rally time in the bottom of the inning. S. Hayes started the rally by reaching base for the fourth time in four bat-bats as she hit a grounder that produced an error. With one out, K. Hayes hit a sacrifice but reached on an error. With two on, Wittenberg drew a walk to load the bases. Wascher then followed with a single that scored both runs for the win.
Windsor/Stew-Stras finished with 10 hits in the contest and did not have an error. S. Hayes went the distance on the mound, giving up four runs on nine hits, four walks while striking out seven. S. Hayes led in hitting with three singles while Wascher had two singles and two RBI and K. Hayes had a single and two RBI. Wittenberg added a single and an RBI and A. Friese had two singles.
St. Anthony had nine hits but committed four errors. Ruholl was the tough-luck loser on the mound. She went 6.1 innings allowing five runs on 10 hits, three walks and striking out two.
In the third place contest, South Central scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the first inning and tallied a 1-0 victory over Altamont.
The lone run came from a lead-off walk by Kyra Swift to start the contest. Swift stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch.
Grace Lemke threw a no-hitter for Altamont but did not win the contest. She gave up three walks and struck out 17.
The Indians had only two hits against winning pitcher Maddie Peddicord. Avery Fleeharty and Sophia Long had a single each.
Peddicord finished with the two hits, two walks and struck out 10.
Dieterich won the consolation championship. The Maroons beat Neoga, 12-1. No other information was provided.

At Robinson
Effingham had a big weekend of softball. The Hearts won two regular season games Friday and then claimed the championship of the Robinson Tournament Saturday.
EHS blanked Pinckneyville at home Friday by a 10-0 count in six innings. EHS moved into a 2-0 lead in the second and never looked back.
The Hearts had 12 hits led by Keagyn Koenig with a single, home run and three RBI while Mya Harvey added two doubles. Sidney Donaldson had a triple and an RBI. Ryley Engel added two singles and three RBI and Jerzi Bierman two singles and an RBI. Saige Althoff also had two singles.
Althoff went the six innings, allowing no runs on four hits, two walks while striking out four.
EHS then hosted Flora and captured a 7-1 victory. Flora took a 1-0 lead and held that until the fourth when EHS tallied two. The Hearts added on five more runs for the win.
EHS had nine hits led by Natalie Armstrong with a single, double and two RBI, Donaldson two singles and three RBI, Althoff two singles and an RBI and Engel two singles.
Armstrong went the seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits, no walks and striking out seven.
EHS then headed to the Robinson Tournament Saturday and won the championship.
The Hearts blanked Hutsonville 2-0 in the opening contest, scoring both runs in the second.
Both teams had six hits. EHS was led by Harvey with two singles and Koenig and Althoff had a single and an RBI each.
Althoff went the seven innings, allowing no runs on six hits, one walk and striking out four.
In the second contest, Effingham easily handled Fairfield by a 15-3 count in five innings.
The Hearts banged out 15 hits. Engel had two singles, a double and two RBI while Armstrong and Maci Hayes had a single, double and two RBI each. Althoff finished with a double and Koenig and Harvey two singles and an RBI each.
Armstrong went the five innings. She gave up three runs on four hits, no walks and struck out four.
In the championship game, Effingham downed Robinson 8-2.
The Hearts again had lots of hits with 14. Koenig had a single, double, home run and two RBI while Armstrong added a single, home run and two RBI. Engel had a single, double and wo RBI and Hayes a double.
Althoff went the seven innings, allowing two runs on six hits, one walk and striking out five.

The Wooden Shoes downed Tri-City by a 10-2 count behind nine hits. T-town held a 5-0 lead in the second and tacked on five more in the sixth.
Kayleigh Zerrusen had a triple and an RBI while Jersey Gaddis added a double and two RBI. Olivia Wermert and CJ Apke finished with two singles and two RBI each. Kayleigh Zerrusen added a triple and an RBI and Kera Hartke two singles and an RBI.
Alyssa Tipton went the seven innings on the mound, giving up two runs on five hits, four walks and striking out eight.
T-town then fell to Breese Mater Dei, 9-1.
Mater Dei moved into a 1-0 lead in the second. T-town tied in the third. But Mater Dei brought home eight runs in the fifth.
T-town had four hits and committed two errors. Olivia Wermert had two singles and an RBI and Gaddis two singles.
