Shelby County board members Thursday voted to approve a bid for work related to EJ Water Cooperative.
The work involves expansion of EJ’s Delbert Mundt water treatment plant near Beecher City. Shelby County Board Chairman Tad Mayhall said the county served as a pass-through agency for the grant funds.
The Board also approved the hiring of Crystal Watkins for an oversight position for rural transportation in six area counties including Shelby. The Board also approved the transfer of $35,000 in federal grant funds to the county’s Social Security fund.
Board members also approved authorizing a 15-month audit for the fiscal year ending November 30, 2023. Work will then begin on the following year’s audit as the County continues to play catch-up. The Board also declared as surplus a boat with an unrepairable leak and a squad car with more than 180,000 on it.
Several appointments were approved, including Rod McClain as a Findlay Fire District trustee, George Nuxoll as a Sigel Fire District trustee, Brad Storm as a Cowden Fire District trustee, Jeff Slifer to the Zoning Board of Appeals, Jeff Gregg as chair of the public safety committee, James Mitchell to replace Mayhall on the public safety committee, and Judy Wood to replace Julie Edwards on the finance committee.
