Effingham Claims Girls Jokisch-Grandone Track Invitational Championship

CARLINVILLE — Effingham High School claimed the championship of the Jokisch-Grandone Track Invitational Friday.

The Hearts tallied 118 points followed by Jerseyville Jersey 88, Taylorville 80, Litchfield 55, Carlinville 43, Greenview 38, Staunton 32, Jacksonville Routt 25, Greenville 13, Dupo 12, Gillespie 12, Alton Marquette 10, Mount Olive 9,  Nokomis 9, New Berlin 8 and Springfield Lutheran 6

Effingham captured five victories during the meet. Camdyn Burgholzer won two of those events. She captured the 300 hurdles in 51.30 seconds and won the high jump at 1.60 meters.

Morgan Springer won the 1600 with a time of 5:51.63 minutes and took third in the 800 in 2:34.94. Emery Spicer claimed first in the long jump at 4.65 meters, finished second in the 800 in 2:27.13 minutes and third in the triple jump at 9.79 meters.

Kylee Pryor was second in the pole vault at 3.13 meters.

Effingham’s 4×400 relay team won with a time of 4:20.58 minutes. Team members were Macy Kirk, Emery Spicer, Balee Summers and Drew Weis.

The 4×800 relay team of Springer, Anna Theis, Laney Myers and Weis took second in 11:05.57. The 4×200 relay team finished third in 1:57.61. Team members were Trinity Reed, Myers, Emily Greuel and Viktorija Balode.

Alaina Miller was third in the 3200 in 13:36.26 minutes.
