Linda Sue Herrmann, 77 of Brownstown, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 1, 2025 after a lengthy battle with spinocerebellar ataxia.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with Rev. Ryan Meyer officiating. Visitation will be held at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown on Monday, May 5th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Interment will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, St. Peter. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Linda was born on Monday, July 14, 1947, to Lewis “Bill” and Helen Stine in Vandalia, IL. She married Roger Herrmann on June 28th, 1970. Linda had a passion for pleasing loved ones and friends with her cooking and baking. She baked and decorated numerous cakes and cookies for special occasions. She also loved being a homemaker which included canning fresh fruits and vegetables from the family garden. She was a graduate of Brownstown High School and Patricia Stevens Career College in St. Louis, MO. She was employed as a school cook for 30 years at Brownstown School District, where she won the hearts of the kids with her homemade hot rolls, and other delicious food.
She will be greatly missed and is survived by her husband of 54 years, Roger of Brownstown, sons Brian Herrmann (Marianne Welner) and John Herrmann (Laneta Spring) of Effingham, granddaughter, Ashely Wilson (Tyler) of Wapella, sister, Nancy (Mike) Kistler, and many nieces and nephews, and her beloved grand-dog, Cash.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Helen Stine, sister, Mary Boaz, mother and father-in-law, Lavina and Albert Herrmann.
