The North Clay Board of Education has approved changes to an intergovernmental agreement with the North Clay Park District.
North Clay School Superintendent Keith Price reported on an earlier presentation by the Park Board that the school district provide some compensation for the costs of the baseball diamond paid for by the park district. The amendment would remove the Park District from maintaining the field, repairing the field and providing for utilities for the field. The current intergovernmental agreement requires that any changes must be approved by a 2/3 vote of each governing board.
The school board approved the changes 6-1, so the matter now goes to the Park Board.
Meanwhile, the school board resumed discussions on goal-setting. The changes included increasing extra-curricular offerings, the need to conduct a review of student handbooks, revising the schedules of the high school and junior high school to make sure then are aligned as far as the bell schedule, a review of test scores, and a discussion on the impact of semester exam exemptions on student academic achievement and preparation for post-secondary test taking.
In personnel moves, the North Clay board hired Anna Rounds as a cook, approved the posting of an English Language Learner Paraprofessional, and provided the administration permission to hire non-certified staff, as needed.
Price also informed the Board that the district has received updated, estimated EAV calculations from Clay County that will be used for preparing tax levy recommendations.
